Lower Eagle Creek

This is a painting of Lower Eagle Creek in eastern Arizona, near the border of Arizona and New Mexico. There are lush green trees and a rushing creek flowing between rock faces. It is an oasis in the desert.

This painting was my first real attempt at the alla prima (at once) technique, also known as “wet on wet.” The goal of this technique is to get as much done with the painting as possible in one sitting. This was a bit of a challenge for me since I paint in layers.

This oil painting is on canvas panel sized 9x12.
